De boys praten over wat hun heeft beïnvloed, hun geluid en de Obama meisjes.

They’ve got hit records. They’ve starred in movies and on TV. And they’ve got perfect hair.

Ah, life is good for the Jonas Brothers. And on Sunday, the Pied Pipers of squealing ’tweener girls will be back in Tacoma, headlining the Tacoma Dome with cuts from their brand, spankin’ new album, “Lines, Vines and Trying Times.” Kevin, Joe and Nick Jonas held a conference call shortly after the tour was announced. And, from the transcript, here’s some of what they had to say about their new sound, having fans in the White House and getting ‘dissed on “South Park”:

Nick on musical influences: Some of our biggest influences in the writing process are people like Elvis Costello, Prince and Johnny Cash, and Neil Diamond is a new one. Also, the Zutons out of the UK and Kings of Leon.

We’ve been working on trying to use metaphors, in a way, to kind of mask a literal thing that happened to us. I think that, personally, Elvis Costello is excellent at doing that. And (we’re) listening to his music and trying to, you know, do our best to imitate that gift that he has of being able to tell a story with using metaphors.

Joe on the new album’s sound: It feels like just a good growth in our music, and it has a lot of more kinds of horns in the record and a lot more strings. Also, there’s more to the music rather than just a typical kind of relationship song.

We had the opportunity to write the songs for our new television show and that kind of helped us as writers kind of think out of the box. And so with our new record we kind of wanted to do the same, and that’s exactly what we are doing.”

Nick on “Poison Ivy”: “Poison Ivy” is a song that we wrote with our bass player, Greg Barbowsky, who we wrote the song ‘Tonight’ with on our last album. And ‘Poison Ivy’ is really cool. It’s a metaphor for various things that have happened to us about maybe a relationship you can’t get out of or something that you’ve gone back to, even though it might not be the best thing in the world for you.

Joe on having Sasha and Malia Obama as fans: You know I’m sure if they would like to come we would be fine with them having tickets, for sure. And I’m sure they could probably get their own tickets without even – just magically. By July 13, actually, we’re going to be in Washington, D.C., doing a concert, so hopefully the family will come out to watch the show. I mean, they’re always invited and we’re very excited for the summer tour to make its way over there.

Nick on jamming with Stevie Wonder at the Grammys: Performing with Stevie Wonder was an experience that we’ll never forget and we’re very thankful. We know that we’re young guys and that that was really, truly an honor and we’re so thankful to him and his team for making it happen.

Kevin on secondary ticket brokers: We sell directly to our fans. You know, we have an initial presale straight to our fans to our fan club, and that comes straight, you know, to our fans. We want to do everything possible (to ensure) these tickets go directly to the people that want to see the show, no people that are just trying to profit from reselling a ticket.

Nick on being lampooned on an episode of “South Park”: I think we always like to, you know, be open to make fun of ourselves, you know, we’ll be the first to. We did it on “SNL” and it was kind of fun. But I think for us we’re so focused on what we’re doing with this tour and our album and everything that we didn’t have too much time to see it.

Nick is misschien de jongste van de broertjes, maar hij kan al een hele speech gegeven. Gisteren heeft hij zich weer behoorlijk ingezet voor zijn ziekte diabetes. Dit gebeurde samen met de president en enkele andere belangrijke personen.

Speech
Good morning. My name is Nick Jonas, and I’d like to thank you for having me here today. I’d like to share my story of living with type 1 diabetes, and talk about the need to fund research to find a cure.

First, I would like to thank you, Senator Collins, for chairing this hearing and for being such a champion for all of us with diabetes. Everyone here today for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation’s Children’s Congress is grateful for your leadership on the Senate Diabetes Caucus and your commitment to people with type 1 diabetes. We are lucky to have you pushing for policies that will bring us closer to a cure.

In one way, or another I have spent most of my life performing. I’ve been writing songs since I can remember, and I love sharing my passion for music. As a little kid, I sang in the choir in my dad’s church, and then performed on Broadway. As the Jonas Brothers, my brothers Joe, Kevin and I have written songs, made albums and toured the country, playing our music for people all over America.

It was during a concert tour in 2005 that I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. My brothers were the first to notice that I had lost a lot of weight – fifteen pounds in two weeks. I was thirsty all the time and had a bad attitude, which isn’t like me at all because I’m a really positive person. It would have been easy to blame my symptoms on a hectic schedule. But my family knew I had to get to a doctor.

The normal range for blood sugar is between 70 and 120. When we got to the doctor’s office, we learned that my blood sugar was over 700. The doctor said I had type 1 diabetes, but I had no idea what that meant. The first thing I asked her was, “Am I going to die?” She assured me that I wasn’t going to die, but that I’d have to manage this disease for the rest of my life. We went right to the hospital where I spent three days, including a crash course in getting my blood glucose levels in control and living with diabetes.

It hasn’t been easy, but diabetes technology has really helped me to manage my diabetes. At first, I took insulin shots, but it was just too hard on the road to give myself shots. I switched to a pump, which has been great. Since then, my average blood glucose levels have come down, and I’m able to use the pump to better estimate how much insulin I need based on the carbs I eat. I am also considering a continuous glucose monitor, but for now, I still prick my finger to check my blood sugar. I do that up to 12 times a day, including right before I began this testimony.

While technology has made it much easier for me to manage my diabetes, technology is not a cure. Insulin is not a cure. Like everyone here today, I know that the promise of a cure lies only in research. I am grateful that Congress renewed the Special Diabetes Program last year, which has helped researchers make important discoveries into what causes type 1 diabetes. This vital program has also funded research to test new drugs and therapies that could treat or cure patients with type 1 diabetes, and may even lead to an artificial pancreas one day. I ask that each of you join me in supporting the renewal of the Special Diabetes Program next year so that the researchers can continue their work on a cure for our disease. My life depends on it. All our lives depend on it.

After I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, I wrote a song called A Little Bit Longer about dealing with diabetes. I’d like to submit a copy of the full song for the record, but I’d like to read one of the verses, which explains my outlook on life with diabetes:

And I’ll be fine
Waitin’ on a cure
But none of them are sure
A little bit longer
And I’ll be fine

Diabetes has changed my life. But I know that I’ve benefited from the government’s investment in diabetes research. With the help of Congress, I’ll only have to wait a little bit longer for a cure.

In the meantime, I’ve decided not to let diabetes slow me down. In just the last two months, my brothers and I launched a new TV show, released our third album and began a world concert tour. My approach to managing diabetes is to focus on simple wins — little things I can do each day to achieve my goals. Over time, these everyday victories can make a big difference in your life — just like every research advancement moves us along on our path to a cure. While on that path, I want to be a positive face for diabetes. I want to show kids with type 1 diabetes – like all the kids sitting with me today – that they can live with diabetes and still make their dreams come true.

Thank you for the opportunity to appear before you today, and thank you for your commitment to diabetes research. With your help, a little bit longer and we will all be fine.

CANADA, OKLAHOMA AND WASHINGTON,DC!!!

Heey iedereen!

We hebben het erg druk gehad de afgelopen weken. Bedankt voor al jullie support.
Jullie hebben van Lines Vines and Trying Times weer een nummer één gemaakt in de US deze week. We hebben ook gehoord dat hij het goed doet in Mexico, Zuid Amerika en Europa.

We hadden een geweldige tijd in Canada tijdens het co-hosten van de Much Music awards. Het was leuk om zoveel van onze fans te ontmoeten. We hebben verhalen gehoord van mensen die hebben gecampeerd voor een goede plaats. Te gek! Bedankt voor al jullie liefde en support.

Daarna vlogen we naar Tulsa, Oklahoma voor de show van afgelopen nacht. We hebben gevraagd om het te brengen en jullie deden het! Het was geweldig.
Nu is Denver aan de beurt.

Nick is vandaag in Washington, DC voor het ontmoeten van de president en andere beroemdheden rond de natie van Washington voor het helpen met JDRF (diabetes)

STARTED WORLD TOUR and now MUCH MUSIC

Nieuwe blog van de Jonas Brothers!

Heey iedereen!
We hadden drukke, maar erg mooie dagen. Afgelopen nacht waren we in Dallas bij het New Cowboy Satdion voor het eerste concert van onze wereld tour.
HET WAS GEWELDIG!!!
We hadden Jesse James die de MC deed gedurende de hele nacht. We hebben ook haar nieuwe single, wanted, gezongen.
Onze goede vriend van onze show JONAS, Nicole Anderson aka Macy, bij ons. Het was grappig om de shock op haar gezicht te zien toen duizende mensen begonnen te gillen toen ze haar zagen.
De avond begon met onze vrienden The Honor Society. Ze rockten het podium van het begin tot het eind. We zijn erg opgewonden om ze aan de rest van de wereld te laten horen.
Daarna was onze goede vriend Jordin Sparks. Ze zong hit na hit en zorgde voor kippenvel in het publiek.
Tegen de tijd dat wij opkwamen waren we helemaal opgewonden. We hebben heel lang gewacht voor het starten van deze tour. Het was super vanaf de eerste seconde dat we op het podium stonden. We hadden heel veel lol met onze fans.
Er was een record, 50.000 mensen in het stadion. Deze ervaring zullen we de rest van ons leven blijven herinneren. Iedereen bedankt in Dallas voor het waarmaken van deze droom in onze tweede woonplaats.
We sloten de show af met een verrassing: Een duet samen met Miley Cyrus. Het gegil was een van de luidste ooit!
Nogmaals bedankt voor iedereen die naar de show kwam en de vrienden die het zo speciaal hebben gemaakt.
Jullie zijn de beste fans in de wereld.
Laat ons weten of jullie bij de show waren en wat jullie er van vonden.

MADRID - WE LOVE YOU

Een nieuw bericht van onze boys!

Heey iedereen!

We zijn net klaar met onze show in Madrid, Spanje. Het was opnieuw erg leuk om met onze fans te zijn hier. Het zijn een van de meeste gepassioneerde fans in de wereld. Ze danste en zongen mee met elk liedje (ook de nieuwe.) Jullie hebben ons erg welkom laten voelen. Dit was een geweldige manier om te starten met onze tour voor onze nieuwe CD. De stroom viel uit in het gebouw na het spelen van onze laatste noot van ons laatste liedje. We zijn erg blij dat we onze hele show hebben kunnen spelen. We wilden graag nog een extra liedje spelen, maar dat ging niet door vanwege de stroom. Maar we zullen in novermber terug komen! We kunnen niet wachten om jullie weer te zien! Nog maals bedankt Madrid.

Hitkrant 24

De Jonas Brothers hebben het eindelijk weer gehaald met een interview in de hitkrant! Natuurlijk heb ik die even ingescand :) De voorkant wordt trouwens versierd door niemand minder dan Nick en in de hitkrant zijn ook nog twee JB dingen te winnen! Het gaat om kaartjes voor de 3D film, en de nieuwe CD!
